Ellen Callaway from Callaway Photo is a professional food & product photographer. Through her volunteerism with the Arlington Recycling Committee, Callaway combines what she learns about waste diversion with her love of photography. She came to the "Recycled Beauty" project from a very personal perspective. "For years, I've been concerned about the impact our society has on the environment. We produce a massive amount of waste. And we create new materials — both packaging and products — with recyclable and non-recyclable parts that are glued, screwed and intertwined together. Where can I learn how to recycle it all? I thought photos might help me understand, but I wasn't finding what I wanted to see..... I decided to show the beauty I found as I learned to understand recycling at a new level. This has been as an outlet for me to give back to my community and share my excitement and enthusiasm for both complexity and simplicity in our waste.”
