Join Let’s Talk about Food on Friday 12/18 at 12 pm.

Every Friday at the new Boston Public Market, LDEI Boston President Louisa Kasdon features a speaker at her weekly Let's Talk about Food Brown Bag Lunch.

Energy bars, Cheetos, juice pouches, supermarket bread — Americans eat more processed foods than anyone else in the world. We also  spend more on  military research. These  two seemingly unrelated facts are inextricably linked. What is the effect of such a diet, eaten as it is by soldiers, and most consumers, day in, day out, year after year? We really don’t know.

Join us for an eye-opening conversation and unpack a bag of groceries with food writer Anastacia Marx de Salcedo, author of Combat-Ready Kitchen: How the U.S. Military Shapes the Way You Eat examining the long relationship between the processed food industry and the military and their combined influence on the American diet. This session will be filmed and broadcast at a later date by CSPAN2 Book TV.
