The Best Begins in Boston

Your Boston sister Dames are enthusiastic about the way that the program is taking shape for the 2014 Annual Conference, (October 30-November 2)!

As women who work in all aspects of the food world, we are very attuned to the conversation about women and the media. We are hopeful that an organization like LDEI with its membership of savvy, connected women across the country, can be part of shifting perceptions and reality around women who cook. Our keynote speaker, the incredible Sara Moulton–chef, TV star, and prolific author–will frame the conversation. Following her address, there will be a panel of women chefs and media professionals to give multiple perspectives on how we move more women from the sidelines to center stage.

But that’s just the first morning. We are also planning several terrific beverage seminars, including a “sommelier smackdown,” with several female sommeliers, and a “Boston tea party” with a professional Boston tea sommelier.

We’ll have professional development seminars on using strategic planning at the personal level to think about exit strategies and growth strategies for your business and career. We’ll have a social media skills update–you don’t want 2014 skills heading in 2015–and workshops on food styling and food photography.

In keeping with the wonkiness that is Boston and our deep ties to academia, we’ll have educational seminars on molecular gastronomy and culinary science, the confusing complexities around GMOs, and with a bow to our seacoast splendors, we’ll have a focus on seafood and sustainability. And you’ll participate in several workshops around the exciting Green Table I nitiatives happening in Boston and with our sister Dames around the country.

We can’t wait to wow you in Boston! See you in October.
